Add a workflow property

Use workflow properties to add permissions and restrictions on workflow statuses and transitions.

You must have the following to do the things described on this page:

Role: Site admin

Permission: Administer projects

Access your workflow

From a company-managed project:

  1. Select Settings (), then Work items.

  2. Select Workflows, then find the workflow you want to update. Select More (•••), then Edit to open a diagram of your workflow in the workflow editor.

From a team-managed project:

  1. Go to Project settings, then Work types, and select a work type.

  2. Select Edit workflow.

Update your workflow

  1. Select the Transition or Status you want to add a property to.

  2. Select Add () next to Properties in the detail panel.

  3. Select + Add new property

  4. Add the Property key and Property value.

  5. Select Save, then Update workflow to save your changes. This will update all projects that use this workflow.

Update the workflow in the old editor

  1. Select the Text view from the workflow edit screen.

  2. Under Step Name (id), find the step you’d like to add the property to.

  3. Select View properties.

  4. Add the Property Key and Property Value. Read more about workflow properties.

  5. Publish the workflow.
