Optimize work types in a work type scheme
The Site optimizer can identify and then remove work types that aren’t being used in a work type scheme to improve performance.
To identify unused fields in your site:
Navigate to the Jira admin panel using the icon and select Work items.
Select Work type schemes in the Work types section.
On the work type scheme you want to clean, Select the More () menu then Optimize.
If you haven’t run the Site optimizer recently, you’ll need to run an analysis to identify which work types can be removed. You can re-run the scan at any time using the Update button to ensure you’re seeing the most up-to-date data.
Remove unused work types
To remove unused work types from your scheme:
In the Remove unused work types from this work type scheme section, select Review actions.
Review the changes to be made, then use Remove work types to start the process.
Create scheme variant
When you create a variant, Jira creates a copy of the currently selected work type scheme with only the work types that are currently in use, and automatically associates it to a project.
To create a work type scheme variant:
In the Create scheme variant section, choose which project to isolate in its own scheme then select the Review actions.
Use Remove fields to create the variant
The original work type configuration scheme isn’t edited with this action. If you want to revert the change, you can select the previous work type scheme in project settings.
Redefine your configuration schemes
This option is only available for field configuration schemes being used by more than one project.
Redefining a work type scheme is very similar to creating a scheme variant described above, except that it optimizes every project, and may group several projects under the same scheme.
To redefine your work type schemes:
Select Redefine work type schemes in the Redefine your work type schemes section.
Review the changes that will be made to your schemes and projects. When you’re ready, use Create new schemes to start the process. This operation may take several minutes to complete.
The original field configuration scheme isn’t edited with this action. If you want to revert the change, you can select the previous field configuration scheme in project settings.
