Change management automation rules

Changes to Free and Standard plans in Jira Service Management

As of October 16, 2024, change management for Jira Service Management will move from Standard to Premium plans. After this point, only Premium and Enterprise plans will have access to this feature.

Existing service projects in Free and Standard plans will continue to support existing request types and work types. Read more about the plan changes.

Your ITSM service project comes with the following preset automation rules for change management:

  • When a change management request is created → then update change type and risk

  • When a deployment is completed, failed, or canceled → then transition request accordingly

  • When a low risk change management request is in review → then move request to approved

Unlike other automation rules, the above change management rules will, by default, allow actions in a rule to trigger other rules. Learn more about creating and editing automation rules.

If desired, you can also create your own automation rules for change management.
