Link multiple assets on a single work item

This article refers to additional custom fields for asset management apps sourced through Apps in Jira Marketplace.

For how to add custom fields for Assets in Jira Service Management instead, see this article.

The ‘External Assets Platform’ custom field and related APIs have been deprecated and will be shut down on 31 December 2024. See the Community Post for more details.

You can link multiple assets on a single work item by adding additional asset fields.

You must have an asset management app and be a Jira admin to add additional asset fields.

To add additional asset fields:

  1. Select Settings (), then Work items.

  2. Select Add custom field.

  3. Find and select the External assets platform field.

  4. Select Next.

  5. Enter a name and optional description.

  6. Select Create.

  7. Select the screens you want this field to appear in.

  8. Scroll down, then select Update.

Note: Every app is different. Check the relevant app’s documentation for information on how to connect the asset management app to the field.
