What is incident investigation?

This article refers to features that are currently rolling out. To find out when these features will be live on your site, keep an eye on our release notes or the Atlassian Community.

The incident investigation view helps agents investigate an incident, identify the root cause, and mark the problematic code change as potential cause of the incident.

It also acts as a single source of truth for all changes between the last stable state of the system and the current disrupted state. These changes can be code deployments, infrastructural changes, config changes, feature flag state changes, or manual change requests created during the change management processes. Through incident investigation view, agents can have a good view of the changes and make a detailed analysis into the causes of the incident.

Identifying the cause of the incident helps agents better understand what steps are required to resolve the incident. This reduces the MTTR (mean-time to resolve) of an incident and helps agents respond to incidents better.
