Manage Confluence access requests
Confluence administrators can turn off built-in space and content access requests and route them through your organizations established access request systems. This is useful when you manage access through central ticketing systems like Jira Service Management to keep a consistent audit trail of all access requests.
When you turn off access requests, users who try to view restricted content or spaces see a restricted access message instead of the Request access button. You can choose to keep the default message, or add a custom message to guide users to your preferred request process.
Turn off space access requests
Turning off space access requests prevents users from requesting access to all spaces in your Confluence site.
To turn off space access requests:
Go to Confluence administration.
Select Security, then Access requests.
Turn the Space access requests toggle off.
Select Stop allowing on the confirmation modal.
Set the message shown to users when they land on a restricted content item.
Select Use default message to show the standard restricted access message.
Select Use custom message to provide guidance on restricted content items. Enter a message including instructions or a link to your alternate request system, then select Save.
Turn off content access requests
Turn off content access requests to prevent users from requesting access to view or edit specific content items such as pages, whiteboards, or blog posts in Confluence.
Turning off content access requests automatically removes all pending requests for your site. When users revisit the content, they’ll see a default restricted access message. If you’ve set a custom message, they’ll see your instructions for requesting access instead
To turn off content access requests:
Go to Confluence administration.
Select Security, then Access requests.
Select the toggle for Content access requests to turn it off.
