How can I change my timeline view?
This page is for software spaces
To check whether you’re in a software or business space, select More actions (•••) next to the space name in either the header or the sidebar. At the bottom of the menu that opens, your space details will be shown.
The timeline comes with several built-in viewing options so you can tell (and read) the right story.
Add filters
Filters on your timeline are a handy way to focus on specific work items. You can use them to only show work items that relate to product work, or highlight your team’s “keep the lights on” tasks.
You can find filters at the top of your timeline.
They only show once the field is relevant to the work items in your plan. For example, you’ll only see the Type filter option when more than one work type is added to your plan, and label will only show when you have one or more labels assigned to work items. If a filter doesn’t show at the top of the screen, make sure the field you’re looking for contains a value.
These filters are different from a JQL filter in that they only hide them from the timeline view.

Change how many done work items show on your timeline
To change how many done work items show on your timeline, open View settings, then turn on Hide done item.
This setting applies only to parent-level work items. Done story-level work items that belong to an open parent-level work item still appear on your timeline.

Enable dependencies on your timeline
To show or hide dependencies on your timeline:
From your timeline, navigate to the View settings menu at the top-right of your view.
Under the Visual details heading, enable Dependencies.

Enable the progress bar on your timeline
Monitor your space’s progress from the timeline. Add the Status column, then turn on the progress bar. The bar shows the progress of all child work items, including subtasks.
To enable or disable the progress bar on your timeline:
From your timeline, navigate to View settings at the top-right of your view.
Under the Visual details, enable Progress.
View sprints on your timeline
Sprints created in your Scrum space are automatically shown on your timeline along the top row. To edit or manage these sprints, navigate to the backlog view.
Define a date range
Use the timeframe selector in the bottom corner to zoom in and out on your timeline to view upcoming Weeks, Months, or Quarters.
Change the color of schedule bars
Choose how to color schedule bars: by status category (gray, blue, or green), or by custom or epic color. The default color is purple.
To change the color of schedule bars from the sidebar of the work item:
Select the work item schedule bar to open the sidebar.
Next, select the colored square next to the summary of the work item to open the picker.
Choose your color, and your change is automatically applied.
To change the color directly from the schedule bar:
Right click on the schedule bar (or hold control before clicking).
Choose a color from the menu.

Configure timeline scheduling and child work item display
Use View settings to configure timeline scheduling, such as scheduling by sprints or dates, and choose how child work items appear. These options were previously configured from space settings.
Set the top level of your timeline
Use the Start hierarchy from dropdown to select the top-level work item for your timeline. If your space includes only epic-level work items or below, this control doesn’t appear.
Show or hide inline hierarchy
Turn on Show inline hierarchy to show child work items nested beneath their parent work items. The timeline shows level 1 and level 0 work items only.
