Schedule work items in your plan according to sprints

This page refers to the advanced planning features that are only available as part of Jira Cloud Premium and Enterprise.

Sprints can only be used by Scrum teams.

Along with scheduling work items by releases or set dates, you can use sprint dates to schedule work items.

On your timeline

To schedule work items on your timeline according to their assigned sprints, you first need to set your plan to use sprint dates when a date field is empty. You can do this on the Estimation and scheduling page in Plan settings. Under Work items with empty start or end dates, select Use dates from their assigned sprint.

If your plan includes team-managed projects, make sure sprints are turned on in that project.

With this setting enabled, work items with empty date fields are scheduled according to the dates of their assigned sprint (denoted by an an S next to the date). Adding a date manually overrides the sprint date.

On your program board

Add sprints to your program board, then drop work items in a team’s sprint column to automatically assign them to that sprint.
