What are dependencies in your plan?
This page refers to the advanced planning features that are only available as part of Jira Cloud Premium and Enterprise.
Dependencies in your plan indicate work items that are reliant on others being completed first. Your administrator can configure other work item link types to show in your plan, but they’re all treated as through they’re of the Blocks type meaning that the first work item must end before the second one can begin.
On your timeline, dependent work items are either connected by a line or numbered badges at either end of the schedule bar to indicate the direction of the relationship (whether it blocks a work item or it’s blocked by a work item). Change how your plan shows dependencies.
Off-track dependencies
Dependencies in your plan turn red to indicate when the lead-in work item is putting the second work item at risk. This is referred to as being off-track, and helps identify potential scheduling problems with your plan.
The plan owner can also choose to show dependencies in the same iteration as off-track.
